Thank you for this. I love flatbreads and have often wondered about their similarities. Also, I was just in New Orleans and enjoyed beignet. It is like the doughnt, the soapapilla, and even the Native American frybread. I love cultural food cousins!

Thanks Gary, always a joy to read what you have discovered want us foodies to know.
I wonder how many people realize that the tortilla and all of it's varieties also serve as the forks that we use today.
Watch an Afghan eat with out his pita or naun.
Much love and a hug to you,
Nancy

¡Enhorabuena!

Yours is an excellent endeavor. The State of the Southwestern Foodsheds publication is a positively enlightening contribution. I found the information about the Mujer Obrera’s Mercado Mayapan project to be especially interesting and inspiring. You mention that they are currently struggling to secure funds. Do you know whether they have any serious promotional and fund-raising initiatives underway? Do you know if there are any prospects of similar enterprises along the Arizona border? Could this entrepreneurial association partner with a similar organization, say, in Nogales?

I’d love to join Sabores Sin Fronteras. Count me in.

Sincerely,

Dena Ellen Cowan
